Dr. de la Parra joined the Department of Chemistry at Lehman College of the City University of New York (CUNY) as an Assistant Professor in the Fall 2019 and Faculty of Biochemistry, Chemistry and Biology Ph.D. Programs  at The Graduate The Graduate Center, CUNY, in 2020. She is an Engineer with a Master’s in Biotechnology from the ITESM Monterrey Campus (México) and Cornell University (Ithaca, NY). She has a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the Medical Sciences Campus of the University of Puerto Rico and postdoctoral training at New York University (NYU) School of Medicine.

Dr. de la Parra is passionate about science, research, and teaching. Her research focuses on advanced breast cancer, a field in which she has authored several peer-reviewed publications and received significant recognition (https://orcid.org/0000-0002-5438-8157). She is honored to have been the recipient of a Pre-doctoral Fellowship from the DoD Breast Cancer Research Program at the UPR School of Medicine, a Postdoctoral Fellowship from the American Cancer Society (ACS) at NYU School of Medicine, an NIH Support of Competitive Research (SCORE) SC2 Award, the CUNY Feliks Gross Award (2022), and her current NIH Support for Research Excellence (SuRE) R16 Award (NIH Grant - 1R16GM153947) as a Principal Investigator (PI) at CUNY.

The main motivation for her scientific career is to participate through her research in therapeutic strategies for advanced breast cancer and to contribute to the academic formation of the next generation of highly prepared and competent scientists.

Dr. de la Parra Lab's research interests include health promotion and disease prevention, metabolism, translational control in cancer, protein synthesis, bioactive compounds in natural products for anticancer activity, and education.
